Mikhail Zalomin (RUS) took a risk, and it paid off. The 21-year-old from Sarov showed the two most difficult passes in the final of the men's Double Mini Trampoline competition at the 29th Trampoline Gymnastics World Championships Sunday evening in Sofia (BUL).
A super difficult first pass also lifted American Kristle Lowell above defending World champion Svetlana Balandina of Russia during the women's Double Mini Trampoline final. Lowell nailed both passes to top Balandina and Great Britain's Jasmin Short, winning her first World title in Double Mini at her first World Championships with 71.100 points. If Lowell's landings were excellent, so were her start values: her first pass carried a D-score of 7.600, the highest in the women's competition.
